The Harder the Fall And then the story goes again Up and down rollercoaster-like We straddle a fine line near the edge We appoint to the highest tower With sickening exactitude A king with a pea instead of a brain We sit him in a golden chair So high rarified is the air Higher for the fall to be Harder for the collapse to be felt And so we cringe at the straight-faced liars Open greed as daily feed We choose instead to look the other way Too busy with the daily beat To survive or recklessly buy DC feels like a million miles away We sit down in that broken chair Careful not to move any air Waiting for the news to turn For someone to handle the dirty work To taste the torture And live the loss of dearest ones To work days and nights On consequences of corporate lies Some prophesy the Lord’s return While cheating the system And while sinning their lives into freefall The answer shall be in the prayers Of those who still walk tall and proud Even though they may have lost it all She was a lonely girl Now that she’s gone Everyone misses her saddened eyes Music & lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

Back To Bed 03:43
Back to Bed I lay the flowers and you lay the bread Across the table lies the mystery fare Will we still be here by dawn Survive the poisonous tongue Behind the veil of pretense we cry Caged in the mind You cross a river and I span a sea With varied results we manage to bridge On whose other side shall we meet Now that we think we have the beat I could swear I have heard this song before It’s in the back of my head We bring the rain in forceful bursts of laughter Convince ourselves we understand each other We look so good on video You and I are pure stereo Never mind the dramas of distant past Let’s go back to bed Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

The Boys 04:08
The Boys The boys have had their fun They drove the party into the ground They fed and drank like they went to heaven The victory had to be wholly christened Fireworks lit up the sky And thunder tore through the sleepless nights As one watched through the windowpane and cried… It is a cold and rainy day The jamboree died away No one knows who’s left to clean this up They didn’t even pick up the tab It seems to work in such mysterious ways For no one is in charge of this fray As one watched through the windowpane and walked away… This can’t simply disappear It’ll stick to history like a leech No matter how hard one tries to rewrite the past Don’t you worry no more Help is coming to these shores With the promise to end the rape and the plunder The boys have had their fun They shot the voice or reason down They rocked and rolled like they owned a brothel All the while spreading the Gospel Diamond rings and big cigars They blew a hole through the ozone layer As one watched through windowpane and saw them fly… As one watched through the windowpane and saw them die… Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

Divided 05:46
Divided There may be some misunderstanding In the way we converse I don’t quite grasp all the nuances Or the choice of these words Are we lost on a line Closing on a room full of darkness Inflated in our pride Blinded by the glare of self-righteousness We feel divided on politics Virtuous through the lies We milk the divine out of nonsense To the death we shall fight Are we losing our minds As we aim for the depths of the chasm Clutching on the threads Of opinions beset by phantasm We can’t all be wrong We can’t all be right We simply lack an education What’s in a knowledge Bereft of respect And the tools of validation There is a battle in the kitchen The cooks take to the knives Too many generals have sunken Armies into the ground Guess we are next in line For that door at the end of the alley No one ever comes out Who has been through that hole in space Does one foresee a major change Does one foresee at all We’ve been going at it for ages We should have stopped this fall I hope we realize How much we could have given Let’s use that one last chance Before the lights die forever We can’t all be wrong We can’t all be right We simply lack an education What’s in a knowledge Bereft of respect And the tools of validation Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

Only A Test 08:19
Only a Test It’s only a quiz You won’t be profiled or graded But know we’ll keep The info just in case We’re counting on you To approve of the screening So don’t be fooled By another man’s dream it’s only a test… It’s only a test We want to check your reaction When things screw up We will be ready for action It’s only a drill We like to move you like cattle So when the time comes We can herd you into battle it’s only a test… it’s only a test… And it’s red for fire and blue for crime Don’t try to read between the lines Check your tube for the latest colour About that pill just ask your doctor It’s only test… Don’t be lured by the voice of the traitor Hear the Lord, tell on your neighbor Don’t be caught in these pinky tales The girly boys are going straight to hell It’s only a test We’re in charge of security So when things blow up We pick and choose the enemy You may be scared It’s normal in these dangerous times Saddam is dead We’re making sure he won’t come back it’s only a test… it’s only a test… You got to realize We’re in charge of your lives We control your fate With us you can be safe A few will have to die To protect our supplies For if we trash the Earth For money it’s worth Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

Old Guitar Man Old guitar man Rocking in his chair The wife is long gone The children faded with the past Dust from the road Has turned the grass to red The heat is rising It seems the sun has gotten to them all The route is closed There won’t be a bus again The kids grew and fled Drawn en masse to the city jails The town is dead Boarded to the last nail Tires and rust Dry rot beneath the flaking paint So it is the way it ends Dust to dust we meet again So it is the way it all went From nectar to poison Welcome to hell Old guitar man In the path of fire History ablaze Tomorrow will burn the final stage Though all is gone And nothing really matters Old guitar man Will sing for you one final song So it is the way it ends Dust to dust we meet again So it is the way it all went From nectar to poison Welcome to hell Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

Liar 05:32
Liar Liar You don’t want to listen Liar Your mind is set against the wave of time You favor the things that keep you waiting You’ll wait until the light goes out You’d rather stand for what keeps you blind There is no logic in your mind Only the rules that set you apart Liar Liar You do not want to see Liar Your eyes are shifting from the light You hide in the darkness of loud places You’ll wait until the sun goes down Soon they’ll forget and turn around There are no scruples in your mind Only the greed that breaks us apart Liar Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 1987 Mission Blue Publishing BMI US Copyright Office Whorl Records/Criminal Records

The Spell 07:26
The Spell The witch’s spell crosses the sea Rides the wind Searches the city streets (the city) You hide among the friends you’ve made Keep the past buried Beneath your feet (beneath) Try to forget the things you’ve done Try to turn the past around Those you’ve harried cannot forget For you made sure they would go down You’ve done the rock You’ve done the jazz Tangoed your way into the upper crust (the crust) But now it seems you’ve skipped a beat The wind has turned Your ship around (aground) As the forces keep on closing You fight to conceal the truth It is hard to hide the carnage Played at the hands of a fool You could have – stayed away When you – had the chance But you – chose to play with fire So now you must face the day You could have – danced around Made us – roll with laughter Instead you – pulled the trigger Our blood is on your fingers Someone’s standing at your door High on style In black from head to toes (head to toes) Concerning some matters he says The time has come To get right to the core (and more) You’re looking for a smooth escape But your feet are glued to the ground You’ve bought yourself a one-way fare Stay the course, stick to the plan You could have – stayed away When you – had the chance But you – chose to play with fire So now you must face the day Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

So Much Said, Nothing Said So much is said behind these walls That cloister the men in control Where the reasons for war are bred Where lies are spun into the threads Weaved into the Fantastic By the loom of the middle man So much talk but nothing is said Secret government plans ahead Invents an end creates the means The flock is ready for the leap A course defying logic The collective psyche’s gone astray A spiral into the abyss Old Nick would sure like it that way Oh my, I wish I had it wrong As in courting paranoia Hysteria With sticks and bones for evidence Affected airs of arrogance They pitch the sale across the wave Compulsive buyer takes the bait Reeled into the politics Of goons in suits buried in caves Tricked into the Fantastic By media bent on shuffling the pace Oh my, I wish I had it wrong As in courting paranoia Hysteria Utterly consumed by the outer drive of ruling the world The door to reason clearly out of reach tragedy unfurls Windshield cowboy dreams of a new playground starring the candy man Fantasy rides Spiraling slides Powdered sugar highs… Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier ©2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records

'67 07:35
‘67 Purple haze across a tangerine sky The year must have been ‘67 I plated the chrome on that Ford Mustang ride Today it still shines through the wreckage I threw all caution to the wind Stepped away from the system Acid rain battered the empty street I hitched a ride and sealed my fate An empty face donning a corroded smile I left behind in the mirror The girl with the locks and the hazelnut eyes I hope she burnt all the love letters Me, my dreams and my guitar We took off blindly for the west Song by song and town by town To the ocean we made the trek Forty years have passed us by I find myself on the other side On the tables of DJ Krush The ghost of Miles still spins around Takes us to the light, away from the night Now I understand the signals of the hand I threw all caution to the wind… Good boy was cheated upon by the man One day the slave became the rebel I laid a wreath where the Unknown Soldier died Though many unknowns paid the price I did my turn playing with the gun They taught me how to be a killer I got my face buried in the mud Man of peace, unlikely warrior Many years have passed us by, I find myself on the other side On the tables of DJ Krush the ghost of Miles still spins around Takes us to the light, away from the night Now I understand the signals of the hand Music & Lyrics by Francis Voignier © 2007 US Copyright Office FV Tunes/ASCAP Criminal Records
