lyrics

Old Guitar Man

Old guitar man
Rocking in his chair
The wife is long gone
The children faded with the past

Dust from the road
Has turned the grass to red
The heat is rising
It seems the sun has gotten to them all

The route is closed
There won’t be a bus again
The kids grew and fled
Drawn en masse to the city jails

The town is dead
Boarded to the last nail
Tires and rust
Dry rot beneath the flaking paint

So it is the way it ends
Dust to dust we meet again
So it is the way it all went
From nectar to poison
Welcome to hell

Old guitar man
In the path of fire
History ablaze
Tomorrow will burn the final stage

Though all is gone
And nothing really matters
Old guitar man
Will sing for you one final song

So it is the way it ends
Dust to dust we meet again
So it is the way it all went
From nectar to poison
Welcome to hell
