lyrics

High towers in sight
A bridge across the frigid waters
I revisit the past
A place where time was left to wander
Down the streets with the names
Of those once revered
Till they fell to the pen that rewrites history

Time and time again
I hear the truth that bears the disgrace
There is only the eye
The wish, the end that justifies the ways
But the ghosts tell no lies
And the ghosts utter no truths
To revisit the past is the quest of the fool

The friends that stand alive
I swear they're not the ones I then knew
The man that lays the cards
I hear his laughter loud and true
The veil over the eyes
The smoke that conceals
There's a place within spaces begging to be seen

I see them walk along the river
Dancing in the moonlight
I feel the pulse of their lives
Like a stolen heartbeat, a beat in my soul
I know the joy and the pain
That rise through the sun and rain
