lyrics

Back to Bed

I lay the flowers and you lay the bread
Across the table lies the mystery fare
Will we still be here by dawn
Survive the poisonous tongue
Behind the veil of pretense we cry
Caged in the mind

You cross a river and I span a sea
With varied results we manage to bridge
On whose other side shall we meet
Now that we think we have the beat
I could swear I have heard this song before
It’s in the back of my head

We bring the rain in forceful bursts of laughter
Convince ourselves we understand each other
We look so good on video
You and I are pure stereo
Never mind the dramas of distant past
Let’s go back to bed
